Corridor & BVU collaborate to facilitate business succession
The Iowa Lakes Corridor is partnering with Buena Vista University to innovate new technologies and programs that will be utilized to facilitate business succession. A team of three BVU computer science students are being led by BVU Instructor of Management Gary Sterling and Iowa Lakes Corridor Senior Vice President Brian Dalziel to develop a mobile-optimized web application named Match Learn Launch. This application will support identifying and recruiting prospective business buyers and matching them to business owners looking to sell. Prototype landing pages for the buyers and sellers have been designed and additional dashboard features are under development.
In addition to job shadowing and on-the-job training, business buyers will be eligible to participate in training consisting of new curriculum under development at BVU that will help ensure buyers are prepared to successfully operate the business they are purchasing.
These efforts are supported by a competitive grant award of $175,000 from Google to Buena Vista University and the Iowa Lakes Corridor.
